What is a virtual book tour?

A virtual book tour (also called a blog book tour or blog tour) is an online publicity tactic that offers a low-cost way to reach a large, targeted audience for your book. Think of a traditional book signing tour, but instead of traveling bookstore to bookstore, you go blog to blog -- from the comfort of home.

Effective tours run consecutive weekdays for three to four weeks, long enough to generate buzz and attention from search engines, without overwhelming you or exhausting fans. Each day of the tour, you will "appear" at a host blog. Unlike a traditional bookstore signing, you don't appear in person, but through a combination of the following elements selected by the blog host from your press room: book review, author Q&A; guest post; chapter excerpt; book trailer; book and author artwork, etc.
